Hi,

It would seem that since Microchip have acquired ZeroG Wireless, Freescale has completely dropped support of the TWR-ZGWIFI module. Although it appears digi-key and mouser still have stock.

We have just started the design of a product around the MCF52559 and ZeroG wireless module. While I was fortunate enough to purchase a board and download the enablement patch before it disappeared, I wonder what will happen in the future?

> Will support for the ZeroG Wireless module be removed from MQX in the next release?
> Is a future wireless module planned for the tower? If so, what time frame are we expecting?

On another note, is there any more information about the memory and graphical LCD modules? Does anyone know the expected release dates?

Apologies for the barrage of questions, there just seems to be little information available.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi, Chris,

You are right. Since ZeroG was acquired by Microchip, they are no longer Freescale partners. Therefore, we will no longer feature them in a Tower module or in the MQX operating system. However, we are currently working with a new partner to deliver a WiFi solution. Expect a new Tower module late this summer.

We are putting the finishing touches on the memory and LCD modules now. You can expect the TWR-MEM in March and TWR-LCD in April.

-Michael

Ouch. I just unboxed a TWR-ZGWIFI module. May we have a private link for the MQX enablement patch? This is evaluation hardware after all. Abrupt support termination for a product makes me think twice about evaluating Freescale products for use in future designs.

Bryan

Thanks for the update Michael, although I agree with Bryan that abrupt product/support termination, especially with little or no notice is quite a poor decision.

I've attached the ZeroG Enablement Patch, I think the rest of the documentation is on the cd.

Bryan,
If you decide you don't want it, I'll buy it from you.

As first thought, MQX 3.5 has removed direct support for the ZGWIFI module. It is not all bad news though, looking at the release notes support for a generic WiFi module has been added.

Is anyone interested in helping me develop an updated driver for MQX 3.5? I'm still focused on another aspect of our design at this stage, but will hopefully get around to it over the next few weeks.

If only there was more time in the day.

I'm interested in using the WiFly module by roving networks. Looks much better that the ZeroG one.
